Troubleshooting Guide

This section describes quick and simple solutions to basic situations that may occur through normal use of your scale.  In some cases it may be necessary to contact your dealer to arrange service/repair, but this guide will cover a few things you can try to avoid downtime.

SCALE DOES NOT TURN ON

  • Make sure the battery terminals are connected and properly polarized.  If this does not correct the problem you may need to install a new battery.
  • Make sure the AC adapter is plugged into the proper port.  The port for the power supply will be a small (approximately 1/2″ hole) with a single pin at the center.  Many of our scales will have a serial port – this is NOT the power port.
  • Remove the rechargeable battery, plug in the AC adapter and attempt to turn scale on.  If this results in powering up the scale, the battery is not holding a charge and needs to be replaced.

SCALE WEIGHT FLUCTUATES

  • Ensure you have positioned the scale in an area relatively free of wind (fans, exhaust areas).  A scale is designed for very precise measurements and breezes can affect the scale, causing it to fluctuate.
  • Avoid moving or “banging” the plate as this can damage the load cell in the scale.
  • The scale may not be level – using the leveling feet, check that the four leveling feet are firmly on the table or surface.  Observe the leveling bubble on the scale (most scales) to ensure the droplet is in the center to ensure proper leveling of your scale.
  • The area where the scale is located is not stable – the scale must be in a rigid and stable area to maintain accurate weight readings.

DISPLAY DOES NOT DISPLAY ALL DIGITS

  • In some cases this can occur due to moisture in the masterboard or display.  If this happens it would be advisable to contact your dealer or send a message to TOR REY via the CONTACT link.
